The 19th Hole

He’s Back: Chris Moawad last played and won the Tour Championship in 2019 (Penmar). Sunday’s victory, the 33rd of his career (13th in a major), was his record-extending 6th win in the MGM Tour’s “Club Championship”; he carded a tournament-high 7 pars and 8 bogeys.. Records fall: Moawad’s back-9 36 broke the previous back-9 record held by Walter Vargas (39 in 2014) and his total round 77 also set a new course record, besting John Mann’s previous record 81 set in 2014… Westchester Variety: Moawad became the 5th different winner in the Tour’s 5 visits to Westchester… An intimate affair: Saturday’s foursome marked the smallest field in Tour Championship history… Tweet-Tweet: with no birdies, $4 rolls over to the 2025 season… No Treble: Match Play and Masters champion Tim Joe failed in his bid to become the first golfer in Tour history to collect all 3 majors in the same season… Cue the Benny Hill music and sped up video: It took Tim Joe 13 swings to extricate himself out of a bunker on the 17th hole… Ornithological Prowess: In the midst of his record-breaking back-9, Chris Moawad was able to identify a Vermillion Fly Catcher dazzling the foursome on the course.
