Finished 2nd for Player of the Year by a mere 2.5 points, matching the closest margin in Tour history; it was his highest finish since winning his 2nd Player of the Year in 2006… Won the Masters, his first victory in a major, and recorded the Tour’s 2nd ever hole-in-one. His 86 was a 2-stroke improvement on his best Masters score established 12 years ago; his front-9 39 was a new career best, 5 strokes better than his previous best established in 2009; carded a tournament-high 7 bogeys. His hole-in-one on the 87-yard par-3 16th earned him the largest birdie pool in Tour history ($39); it was the first birdie pool win of his career… Won the Griffith Observatory Championship for the 2nd time in 3 years; carded a 49, just his second sub-50 round in 10 career starts (his 48 won him the tournament in 2016); carded a tournament-high 2 pars and on the 392-yard par 4 2nd made a career-best double bogey… Finished 2nd at the Charly Classic, his 4th runner-up finish in 12 career starts; tied for best gross (35)… Finished 2nd with first-time teammate Doug Vargas at the Hooters; it was his 15th career start in 15 editions… Withdrew after 1 hole in the championship round of the Devil Ball Shootout. 2016: Played in 7 of 9 regular season tournaments, plus the Tournament of Champions, and finished the year ranked 3rd, his highest position since he won Player of the Year in 2006… Made his season debut at the Hooters Championship, the 90th start of his career. With partner Armen Grigorian won his 3rd Hooters, setting a new points record (38) in the process. Also set a new 1st round record for points (24). The win came 10 years after his first Hooters win on the very same course. Remained the only golfer on Tour who has never missed a start at the Hooters… Won the Griffith Observatory Championship for the first time in his career. 2014: Played in all 9 regular season tournaments for the 2nd time in the last 3 seasons. Finished the year ranked 5th, his highest finish since 2006, the year he won Player of the Year. It marked the 5th straight year he finished ranked higher than the prior year. His 2 victories gave him his first 2-win season since 2006… Overcame a 4-stroke deficit with 3 holes to play, punctuating his round with a birdie on the final hole, to win his first Charly Invt’l. Pulled “the double” carding the best net and gross. Had a tournament-high 2 birdies. The victory was his first since 2008, ending the Tour’s current longest winless streak at 33.
