2019: Completed his 14th season, playing in 6 of 7 tournaments. Despite a 2nd straight season without a win finished the year ranked #2, his highest finish since 2015 when he also finished 2nd. This season marked the 6th time in his 14-year career he finished as the #2 player… Devil Ball marked the 100th start of his career; finished 2nd, his 3rd top-2 finish in his last 4 Devil Ball starts… As the #4 seed defeated #5 Gerry Vaughan in a sudden death playoff in the first round of the Match Play Invitational. After Vaughan squared the match on the final hole, responded with an excellent approach shot in sudden death that landed inches from the hole; played in his 9th Final Four, tying him with Armen Grigorian for most career Final Four appearances. Lost to eventual champion Chris Moawad 1-down. 2017: A year after the worst season of his career, led the Tour in wins (3). The win made it his 4th straight season of at least one victory… Finished a career-best T-3rd in the Charly Invt’l, shooting a new personal best Whitsett round 34… In his 70th career start finished 3rd at the Hooters; he and teammate Ed Quiroz were 1 of only 2 teams to avoid scoring negative points… At the Griffith Observatory Championship, had his best score (44) and finish (T3) in his last 5 starts; broke his streak of 8’s on the 6th (3 years in a row) and 8th (4 years) with a pair of bogeys… Had a tournament-high 6 pars at the Masters and was 1 of 3 golfers to go sub-40 on the back-9.
