Vargas Wins TOC, Sets New Record

PALOS VERDES – A year after failing to qualify, Walter Vargas returned to Terranea to win his 2nd Tournament of Champions. His 9 stroke victory gave him his 2nd win in as many TOC starts. “I’m starting to feel like this is my home course.”  Vargas’s 34, which broke the previous record low score (35, Armen Grigorian), was the icing on the cake. “It feels great. I haven’t golfed since the last tournament. I just didn’t think about all the extra little things. I just came out here and tried to have fun. To break the record feels awesome.”
