SMALL FIELD READIES FOR 2013 TPC
In danger of being cancelled, this year’s Players Championship will take place after all, and returns to Las Vegas this weekend. For the four charter members in attendance (John Frost, Patrick Bird, Martin Witt, Tim Joe) Saturday’s tournament will hold some added significance. Ten years ago to the day, the MGM Tour was launched with its very first tournament, the Dinty Moore Match Play Shootout.
Angel Park again plays host to the TPC, but in a significant step up in difficulty, the field takes on its full regulation course. In attendance will be the Tour’s current top 3 players. Defending champion John Frost, whose legendary performance last year cemented its place in the annals of MGM Tour lore, was asked if he planned to replicate his winning formula from 2012. “Perhaps. I’ll just have to wait and see how I’m feeling when I get there, and how the booze is tasting at the time.”
