Finally: Flooding on the Westdrift course delayed the conclusion of the tournament for a month and a half… We’re Back: The MGM Tour returned to Westdrift (formerly Manhattan Beach) for the first time in 7 years. The Tour had played the Manhattan Beach Championship here from 2008 to 2016… déjà vu: Tim Joe won last season’s opener… We’ll never know: first round co-leader P-Jay Fidler withdrew from the Westdrift portion… New leader: After 2 rounds (The Lakes plus 1st Westdrift round) Gerry Vaughan led with a net-57, followed by Moawad (net-59) and Tim Joe (net-60)… #6: Tim Joe made an 8-stroke improvement from rounds 2 to 3. The victory was the 6th of his career… Leaders: Chris Moawad carded a tournament-high 9 pars followed by Walter Vargas with 8; Moawad led all in the bogey department (14) followed by Gerry Vaughan (12)… tweet-tweet: P-Jay Fidler’s 2-birdie lead held up despite him not playing rounds 2 and 3, earning him the $20 birdie pot. Gerry Vaughan carded the only other birdie of the tournament. Fidler zoomed from 11th to 6th in career birdie pool earnings… Milestones: Walter Vargas made his 110th career start.
