The MGM Tour’s “Club Championship”
• COURSE: The Tour returns to Vista Valencia (Par-61) which last hosted the Tour Championship in 2016 (champion Armen Grigorian). Chris Moawad won here in 2013.
• CHECK IN TIME: Saturday November 21, 9:10
• HANDICAPS: 2018 champion Tim Joe (34), 2017 champion Gerry Vaughan (34), 2015 champion Ed Quiroz (27), 2014 champion Martin Witt (38), 2011 champion Doug Vargas (27), 2010 champion Clint Crump (34), 2008 champion Walter Vargas (27), Patrick Bird (34), Eric Stolz (34), Lukas Wyatt (18).
• STORY LINES: The MGM Tour returns to action after going dark for 8 months due to the Covid pandemic… Defending champion Chris Moawad will miss the tournament for the first time in his career (14 straight starts). Saturday marks the return of Eric Stolz who comes out of retirement after 8 years. The 2009 Masters champion made his final Tour appearance at, ironically, the 2012 Tour Championship; so Saturday will be a full circle moment… Lukas Wyatt, who is the Tour’s last winner, which feels like eons ago with the Charly Classic back in February, enters as the heavy favorite. A victory Saturday would place him alongside Chris Moawad (2006 Masters and Tour Championship) as golfers who were victorious in their debuts in a major.
• LAST YEAR: Chris Moawad won his Tour record 5th Tour Championship, dominating the field at Penmar. Moawad pulled the “double”, winning a 2nd major title in 2019.
