The MGM Tour’s “Club Championship”

 

• COURSE: The Tour visits Penmar (Par-33) in Venice for the first time and will play 2 rounds.

• CHECK IN TIME: Sunday July 21, 8:05

• HANDICAPS: Defending champion Tim Joe (32), 4-time champion Chris Moawad (18), 2017 champion Gerry Vaughan (32), 2011 champion Doug Vargas (26), 2010 champion Clint Crump (28), 2008 Champion Walter Vargas (22), Patrick Bird (32).

• STORY LINES: The Tour’s best player (Moawad) and arguably its worst (Joe) are vying for the “double” (2 majors in a season)… both Walter Vargas and Clint Crump are making their first Tour Championship start in 5 years. In their last appearance they finished 8th and 4th respectively. Doug Vargas has finished top-4 in each of his last 5 starts in a major.

• LAST YEAR: At El Cariso, 16-year Tour veteran Tim Joe ended a 55-tournament winless streak and won his first major title. He became the tournament’s 8th different winner since its expansion to a long course format in 2011.
