The MGM Tour’s 16th season concludes Sunday with the Griffith Observatory Championship. A win or runner up finish guarantees Chris Moawad a record-extending 5th Player of the Year honor.
Martin Witt, 2nd in the current standings, is aiming to win his 2nd Player of the Year award. He won in 2015. Patrick Bird has an outside chance for a 3rd Player of the Year, which would be his first since going back-to-back in 2006.
Gerry Vaughan is hoping to avoid becoming just the 3rd golfer to finish the season winless after winning Player of the Year the previous year.
Defending Griffith champion Doug Vargas is 50-50 to start Sunday. A winless 2018 would mark just the 3rd winless season in his 13-year career.
Former 2-time Griffith champion Walter Vargas will miss the tournament for the 6th straight year.
