5-timer: Chris Moawad won his record-extending 5th Player of the Year award (2008, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2018) and 2nd in the last 3 years. He’s finished #1 for more than a third of his MGM Tour career. Moawad posted 2 victories (Devil Ball Shootout and Hooters Championship) and – along with Patrick Bird – led the Tour in top-3 finishes (4 in 6 tournaments). He was the only golfer this season to play all 6 tournaments. Strong finish: Though 2017 Player of the Year Gerry Vaughan failed to post a victory this season he posted 3 straight top-3 finishes to end the season which included a runner-up result at the season-ending Griffith Observatory Championship. Sooo Close… Chris Moawad finished 2.5 points ahead of Patrick Bird for Player of the Year, matching the closest margin of victory in Tour history. Ironically it was Patrick Bird who won Player of the Year by 2.5 points in 2005 over Clint Crump.
