Saturday, The Links at Terranea on the Palos Verdes Peninsula plays host to the MGM Grand Tour’s 2017 Tournament of Champions. It’s the 12th edition of the tournament and 9th at Terranea. This year’s edition is the most exclusive field, with just 5 qualifiers representing the smallest number of winners in the 12-year history of the tournament.
2017 Player of the Year, Gerry Vaughan (Tour Championship, Charly Classic) 3rd appearance
The new Tour champion makes his first appearance since 2010. Aiming to be the 3rd Tour champion to win the TOC in the same year as well as the 3rd Player of the Year to win the TOC in the same year.
Doug Vargas (The Masters, Griffith, Devil Ball) 5th appearance
Led the Tour in wins. Qualified 8 previous times but has only played 4, missing 3 due to injury.
Martin Witt (Hooters) 6th appearance
4th straight TOC appearance and 5th in the past 6 years.
Ed Quiroz (Survivor) 3rd appearance
The 2015 champion makes his 3rd straight appearance.
Chris Moawad (Match Play, Hooters) is out.
