QUIROZ LAST VICTOR OF 2017
He Defeats Witt In Playoff To Win His 2nd Tournament of Champions
PALOS VERDES – 5 years after the last, and only playoff in the Tournament of Champions, Ed Quiroz defeated Martin Witt in a sudden death playoff to win the coveted event for the 2nd time in the last 3 years. “This is a good one to win and to close out the year with a ‘W’. It feels good to be back in action, out here playing,” said Quiroz, whose 6th career win moved him into a tie for 10th on the Tour’s all-time wins list. Witt and Quiroz found themselves headed to a playoff after the pair both par’d the 9th. Quiroz’s lipped-out tap-in putt in sudden death provided a brief moment of drama, but after Witt was unable to sink a long putt to tie, it was championship to Quiroz.
