• LAST YEAR: Chris Moawad won his 2nd Devil Ball in the last 3 years, besting Walter Vargas by 1 stroke and joined Armen Grigorian and Patrick Bird as the only 2-time winners of the event. Though there were no lost devil balls, Marty Witt won the “gizmo” prize for worst devil ball score.
• STORYLINES: A Team Ellis Island victory would feature a battle between Chris Moawad and Ed Quiroz in the championship round. Both have already recorded wins this season. The top-2 scores from Quiroz, Tim Joe, John Frost, Gerry Vaughan, and Martin Witt qualify for the Masters.
• APPROACH SHOTS: The Tour last visited Alhambra in 2013 with Armen Grigorian winning. Clint Crump won the 2010 edition… Half the field Sunday are former winners… John Frost has never reached the championship round… Walter Vargas will miss the tournament for the first time in his career and it marks the final tournament of his career that he has never missed… Doug Vargas will make his 90th career start Sunday.
• RULES REFRESHER: No handicaps and no caps on any hole, Devil Ball portion or Championship round. Lost devil ball is an additional 2-stroke penalty (ie. a total of 4 penalty strokes: 2 for lost ball plus an extra 2).
