“I feel like I’m on an upswing here toward the end of the season which is nice,” said Chris Moawad following his Survivor victory last month, his 2nd win in a row this season. The 4-time Survivor champion did the same – winning Devil Ball and Survivor back-to-back – in 2014. But more significantly, Moawad has positioned himself to possibly win his 4th Player of the Year award. “That’s the cherry on top. It’s huge,” commented Moawad on the consequence of his Survivor win, which moved him to within 26 points of season-long leader Ed Quiroz.
2013
Moawad is hoping for a repeat of 2013 when he entered the Tour Championship a close 2nd in the standings, then won the season’s final major to claim his 3rd Player of the Year award.
100
Sunday’s season finale will be Moawad’s 100th career start on the MGM Tour, and what could be more fitting than a record-breaking Tour Championship win and/or Tour leading 4th Player of the Year award to coincide with the milestone? Standing in his way, ironically, is the reigning and defending Tour champion Ed Quiroz.
A decade
October 1 of this month marked the 10 year anniversary of Walter Vargas’s victory in the inaugural Survivor Challenge.
