Moawad Wins His 2nd Devil Ball

ALTADENA – While a couple of newcomers on Tour have recently grabbed headlines, Chris Moawad showed he’s still to be counted among the best. Sunday, the now 17-time Tour winner, won his 2nd Devil Ball in the past 3 years. The win – his first in nearly 18 months – couldn’t have come sooner for a player accustomed to winning. “I don’t wait till the last minute on purpose. I’m glad I finally got one.” Moawad bucked a Devil Ball trend that has seen a player carry his team in the devil ball portion, only to be outdone in the championship round. He was the best from start to finish. His monster drives were the envy of his teammates and he was a solid plus-1 on each of the 6 championship round holes. With a spot at Terranea now awaiting him, Moawad summed up his better late than never victory: “When the [Tour] gets so large and everybody’s game is coming up, Ed’s on Tour, Nik’s on Tour, Walter’s back, it’s kind of to the point where, almost heading into the season, that’s my first goal, is get a win and if I only end up with one I’m happy.”
