Witt and Freitas 1-2 in the standings.

Reigning Tour Champion Martin Witt’s first win in Devil Ball was his 9th career victory, and placed him into a tie for 5th on the Tour’s all-time career wins list.  The win, his second of the season, increased his lead in the standings for Player of the Year.

Doug Vargas moved up to 3rd in the standings after his 3rd straight runner-up finish this season.  Finishing 2nd in his first Devil Ball appearance in 4 years was of little consolation, only leaving him disheartened at a missed opportunity.  “[Patrick Bird] won Player of the Year [finishing 2nd throughout the year],” said Vargas, before a noticeable pause and shift in disposition, “I still got some juice.  I’ve won [the Tour Championship] before.”

Only 2 tournaments remain in the 2015 season.  Next up for the Tour, the Survivor Challenge, Sunday August 30.
