Reigning Tour Champion, and 2013 Player of the Year, Chris Moawad leads the MGM Grand Tour into another new season this Saturday. Normally the season preview highlights “Four To Watch”, but with the inordinate amount of missed tournaments last season, virtually every Tour member will be looking to rebound from a “down” season, and thus warrants special attention. Will this be the season someone other than Walter Vargas or Chris Moawad ends the year #1? In the past 6 years only Gerry Vaughan has been able to break the stranglehold Vargas and Moawad have had on the Player of the Year award.
Approach Shots
Patrick Bird (2) and Doug Vargas (3) enter 2014 as defending champions in half the tournaments… Armen Grigorian will enter the 10th edition of The Masters in a rather unfamiliar position: defending champion… Rene Quiroz currently holds the Tour’s longest winless streak (31) while Gerry Vaughan and Tim Joe have the 2nd longest (20)… If an uncanny pattern continues for Travois Gordón, as it has the past 7 years, he will finish this season 6th… Chris Moawad, Walter Vargas, and John Frost will soon be making the 75th Tour start of their careers.
