Chris Moawad’s victory in last month’s Devil Ball shootout was the 14th win of his career, tying him for 2nd on the MGM Tour’s all time wins list with Doug Vargas. For the 2nd time in 3 seasons next month’s Survivor Challenge (Sept. 20) will mark the return of the aforementioned Vargas from knee surgery.
BREWING DRAMA
With the season Travois Gordón has had, the Player of the Year award seemed like a lock, dousing any possible suspense. But his baby’s due date will preclude him from playing in this year’s Survivor Challenge, opening the door for another dramatic finish to an MGM Tour season. As a result, John Frost – currently 2nd in the standings – will have the most to gain from Gordón’s absence. For each hole Frost survives, he not only moves closer to winning the tournament, he also edges that much closer to Gordón in the POY rankings.
